The City Council of the Historical Village of Santiago del Teide has allocated, specifically, the amount of €122,000 in aid for the students of the municipality for this 2023/2024 academic year.
These aids are for rent, study aid, acquisition of textbooks and/or school supplies and for nursery schools; highlighting that all of them have the motivation to facilitate access to education and cover the expenses that they entail for the students themselves and their families.
The council has allocated a total of €40,000 in rental aid for university and training students and €60,000 in study aid. To help with the acquisition of textbooks and/or school supplies, the city council has allocated a total of €12,000, highlighting that the beneficiaries of this correspond to students enrolled in the levels of Early Childhood, Primary and Compulsory Secondary Education; although, in this case, the amount is set based on the minor’s educational level and the family situation of the applicants.
Finally, it allocated €10,000 in aid for families with children enrolled in nursery schools in the first cycle of early childhood education from 0 to 3 years old, both in public and private nursery schools in the municipality of Santiago del Teide or in other municipalities.
Emilio Navarro, mayor of Santiago del Teide points out that “we are aware of how far we are from the main educational centers on the island and, above all, of the joint effort that both families and students make daily to be able to study outside the municipality. . For this reason, we are clearly committed to the training and education of our students with the improvement year after year of the budgetary items for this purpose and that with them we reach more students.”
