New reactivation in Las Charquitas, areas affected by the Tenerife forest fire

During the afternoon of this Wednesday, October 4, there was a new reactivation in the area of ​​Las Charquitas and La Atalaya, in the municipality of Santa Úrsula. This is one of the seven reactivations of the fire Tenerife that originated in August in Arafo that have occurred since Tuesday night and, although it had already stabilized, it was reactivated again around 3:00 p.m.

The column of smoke is very striking, since it is affecting brambles and heather, which generates a lot of smoke and alarm in the population.

For his part, the Tenerife Council has reported that since midday, a good part of the emergency resources working to extinguish the fire have been deployed in this area.

In addition to Las Charquitas, the troops have also worked in El Carril del Polvo (El Sauzal) and Finca Los Arroyos (La Orotava).

Evictions

As a preventive measure, during the morning of this Wednesday Seven homes were evacuated in El Sauzal and its occupants returned to them after the stabilization of the fire. Likewise, at noon, people were evicted. about thirty people from the La Atalaya and Vera del Barranco areain Santa Úrsula, who are waiting to be able to return to their homes as soon as the fire is considered stabilized.

Furthermore, during this afternoon, the fire has surpassed the perimeter of the fire and it has been decided, as a preventive measure, to evict some residents of La Corujera and Pino Alto (a part belongs to Santa Úrsula and another to La Orotava).

Deployed equipment

They are participating in the extinction of these fires two helicopters from the island Corporation and two from the Government of Spain. In addition, this Wednesday afternoon the two Eirif helicopters The Palm.

Ground personnel and material resources from the Forestry Brigades of the Cabildo (Brifor) and the Tenerife Firefighters Consortium also participate.

The Cabildo of Tenerife recommends that the population take extreme precautions before new reactivations of the fire and, as far as possible, avoid going to the mountains. Thus, the Corporation reports that grade 1 measures for fire prevention remain activated, so it is prohibited to light fires outdoors, the use of pyrotechnic material in risk areas, as well as any type of machinery or tool that can project sparks.
