SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Civil and Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) has rejected the appeal filed against a sentence of the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in which a man was sentenced to 23 years in prison for murder. to his ex-partner, as well as the payment of compensation of 150,000 euros to the mother of the deceased.
The events occurred around 4:00 a.m. on November 25, 2019 in San Isidro, in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona. The defendant suddenly attacked his partner when he was sleeping in her room and used different knives, including a kitchen knife, dying just an hour later due to the severity of the injuries suffered. The aggressor self-harmed before being arrested at the scene by Local Police officers.
As a consequence of these events, the defendant was declared guilty in July 2022 after a jury trial, a verdict that has been ratified by the TSJC, stating that the sentence is not final, and can be requested within five days. of the appeal to be held before the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court.
