Voting for the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival poster opens this Monday

The City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, through the Autonomous Body of Festivals and Recreational Activities (OAFAR), will open the voting period from 9:00 a.m. this Monday, October 2 on-line to choose the poster for Carnival 2024.

The consultation will be carried out exclusively through the website www.carnavaldetenerife.com and will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on October 20, allowing only one vote per IP address and without references to the authorship of the proposal or the support it collects during the process.

The process begins after the ten finalist works were pre-selected by the jury made up of the two-time winner of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival poster and designer of the set design for the 2024 edition, Nareme Melián; the Queen of the 2023 Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Adriana Peña; the illustrator and specialist in printing and engraving, Patricia Delgado; the president of the Valkirias rondalla, Vicky López and the designer and illustrator, Iván Retamas.

This preselection has a weight of 60% in the final ranking and the popular vote will have a value of 40% of the total. The final result will be obtained after the sum of both qualifications.

The ten works preselected by the jury for this final phase and ordered according to entry registration at the OAFAR, are: Live: sign of the Carnival of postmodernity; Don’t change the channel, Carnival has arrived; Tune in; Live the Carnival of my heart on television; Prime time gala; Adjustment Letter; Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival 2024; Look mom, I’m on TV! Bits of colors, and +Carita TV.

The Councilor for Festivals, Javier Caraballero, has encouraged us to “participate in the election of our business card to the world”; a “process that not only endorses the image of a festival of International Tourist Interest, but also shows the cultural and creative excellence of one of our main generators of economy”; stating that in the last edition the number of visitors exceeded 170,000 people in the two weeks of celebration in the street.

Caraballero remembers that the chosen work will become part of a prestigious art gallery endorsed by such notable firms as Manrique, Mariscal, Fierro, Cuixart, Dámaso or Nazco.
