A 75-year-old man has been hospitalized in serious condition after being rescued from the sea on Las Teresitas beach, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
The event occurred after 12:00 p.m., when the 1-1-2 operational room received an alert reporting that the beach lifeguards had pulled a person from the sea with signs of drowning.
Apparently, the victim was in cardiorespiratory arrest, so the lifeguards had begun to perform basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers with the collaboration of a doctor who was at the scene.
Upon arrival at the scene of the incident, the staff of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) confirmed that the affected person was still in cardiorespiratory arrest and began to perform advanced resuscitation maneuvers that managed to recover him. Once stabilized, he was transferred by ambulance to the Ntra. Sra. De Candelaria University Hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition.
The Local Police collaborated in the health emergency service.
