The Anaga festival Biofest commemorates the 30th anniversary of the declaration as a Biosphere Reserve of Lanzarote and The Gracious with the organization of the route of the ‘Barefoot’, which remembers the continuous trips that the graceful women made crossing El Río and climbing the cliffs of Famara, to sell or exchange the fish on the conejera island. The route will take place this October 1st and registration is open on the website: https://acortar.link/Pay6fe.

With this trail, marked by its sociocultural and ethnographic character, an activity of great economic importance is valued, without which it would be impossible to understand life in the Chinijo Archipelago. On this occasion the return journey will be revived, starting from Orzola to descend the cliffs and reach the coast, where the boat journey to La Graciosa will begin. Throughout the tour, the importance of this activity, carried out for years between both islands, will be contextualized.

In this autumn edition, in line with the spirit Biofest, we are once again committed to expanding the calendar of activities beyond its traditional venues, with the aim of adding sociocultural and ethnographic values, which give a marked differentiating character to our archipelago as a tourist destination. Along these same lines, collaboration with companies and social agents in the area is maintained, promoting its economic development. On this occasion there will be advice from Hiking Lanzarotecertified hiking company, associated with Revivir Lanzarote, Ecotourism Product Club in the Biosphere Reserve.

This recognition of the declaration as a Biosphere Reserve implies the movement of a delegation of people from the organization of the Anaga Biofest, as well as agents/suppliers linked to the Anaga Massif Biosphere Reserve to exchange experiences and experiences, as well as reflect on the common challenges and opportunities shared by the territories that hold this recognition. With ‘Barefoot’ It symbolizes the values that identify the marked relationship between Lanzarote and La Graciosa, a necessary symbiosis that is part of the history of the Islands.
