SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Infrastructure and Equipment, will carry out a series of actions at the Hermano Pedro Special Education Center (CEE) for a comprehensive reform , which will be executed in parts, in order to cover the needs and demands of the educational community.
This special education center was inaugurated in 1975 and has a hundred students enrolled. These are students with special educational needs (SEN) who require specific means, adapted facilities, as well as specific attention for the development of their activities. To this end, the complex has 22 tutoring rooms, several psychomotor classrooms, a gym, three sensory classrooms, a Medusa Project classroom, an audiovisual room, a library, an infirmary, and meeting and administration rooms, as well as outdoor spaces.
Currently, it presents a series of shortcomings, as the general director of Infrastructure and Equipment, Fernando Miñarro, was able to verify in the recent visit he made to the CEE Hermano Pedro to learn about the needs and make himself available to the educational community to begin all the procedures. that contribute to solving them.
ACTIONS TO BE EXECUTED.
Thus, a series of actions will be carried out, prioritizing the most urgent ones, such as the regularization of the electrical and plumbing installation, a project that has already been commissioned and will be received shortly, according to Ministry sources.
Another project that will be updated will be the carpentry of modules A and B, as well as the rehabilitation of the swimming pool, a work valued at around 600,000 euros and which will be put out to tender.
The CEE Hermano Pedro assembly hall will be another of the spaces that will be renovated through concrete covering work and the construction of pillars to replace the props. Finally, the repair of the complex’s ramps will be carried out to improve accessibility for users, while in the patios the rehabilitation of the planters and the creation of green spaces is planned.
The improvement of infrastructure is one of the strategic lines of the Ministry, thus guaranteeing a quality educational system that allows, as in the case of the CEE Hermano Pedro, to provide the center with equipment adapted to the needs of the students and their families.
