Dávila assures that the previous Government did not plan the purchase of new buses and it remained a “mere announcement” without financing
SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of Tenerife will approve in the plenary session next Friday a credit modification for an amount of 79.3 million that will be allocated, for the most part, to the purchase of some 150 buses to improve and increase the island fleet and regenerate the affected mountains due to the forest fire in August.
The details of this operation have been presented at a press conference by the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, and the vice president, Lope Afonso, who have stressed that these changes in items respond to the “commitment” of the government team to address and solve the problems. problems of the island and “with its own funds”, once each Ministry has detected where these amounts can be withdrawn.
Dávila has detailed that the modification is based on the low level of investment execution, which is around 15%, or on items that were “oversized” and will be recovered again next year, plus the liquidation of 11 million of the financing block canary or about six million from the remainder of the Cabildo’s own treasury.
Thus, 31.7 million will be allocated to the forest reforestation plan, of which 2.7 million will be dedicated to emergency actions through the Natural Environment area and 29 million will finance a multi-year framework until 2026 for recovery work. of monteverde and actions against the risk of falling trees, landslides and risk of erosion.
Within the item of 2.7 million, some 550,000 euros are included to cover the expenses of the town councils and another 271,000 euros for the Amanse ravine gallery.
Likewise, an amount of 986,000 euros will be approved for the area of Primary Sector and Animal Welfare in order to carry out emergency actions in the following agricultural infrastructures: Aguamansa pond, Cuevas Negras reservoir, Cuevas Negras-Barranco del Agua transfer, pond of San Antonio and the Santa Úrsula irrigation network.
In addition to this investment, the Roads area is already carrying out work to replace fences and screens on the access roads to Teide through La Esperanza and La Orotava, for an amount of about two million euros.
Regarding the purchase of new buses, valued at around 46 million, Dávila has pointed out that the previous government team, which announced a purchase contract for almost 250 buses for around 88 million, left “neither a contract nor buses”, not even the economic planning.
In fact, he commented that the new contract was signed in August and allows the credits to be advanced and frees Titsa from a loan that was going to involve the payment of some 20 million euros in interest, which was going to be a “detriment.” ” for the company. “It was a mere announcement, it was not supported by real economics nor was there any contract,” he added.
1.2 MILLION FOR THE DAYCARE-CHECK
Afonso has reported that, under the credit modification, up to 3.4 million will also be contributed to municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants for cooperation works, 5.2 million for the rehabilitation works of the Taoro Hotel, 2 .1 million for the Costa Sur industrial estate and another 2.1 million for the storm drain on Punta Anaga Street, in Los Alisios, plus 550,000 euros for the resurfacing of the San Jerónimo industrial estate, in La Orotava.
Likewise, there will be just over 1.1 million for the Dóniz desalinated water station, in Buenavista del Norte, 1.2 million for childcare vouchers and a subsidy of 200,000 euros for the Red Cross to help alleviate the effects of the earthquake in Morocco. .
As aid to the sectors damaged by the fire, the vice president commented that the beekeeping subsector has already received about 140,000 euros and for next year there will be more than 800,000 euros, while highlighting that another two million are allocated for food. of cattle that will rise to 3.5 million in 2024.
