The Granadilla de Abona City Council has decreed this Wednesday, September 27, the temporary closure of El Médano Beach (central beach) and the Leocadio Machado Beachafter detecting in the analyzes that a indicator exceeds the maximum allowed level. Furthermore, there has been raising of the red flagtemporarily prohibiting bathing.

From the Consistory it is reported that only the central beach and Leocadio Machado exceed the levels allowed for bathing. It should be noted that although the samples taken on previous days showed results of good water quality, new results received this Wednesday have exceeded the Allowed parameter of enterococci.

This Wednesday samples were taken again to carry out a counter-analysis by the municipal service. The City Council takes this measure to ensure the safety of bathers, waiting for the results of the latest analysis, and as soon as they confirm that the waters are suitable for bathing, it will be reopened. It is recommended to follow the restrictions of the beach rescue and safety team.
