‘Vetus Venusta’ arrives at the Guimerá Theater in Tenerife

On October 11, at 8:00 p.m., the Guimerá Theater of Santa Cruz de Tenerife receives the play Vetus Venusta by the Catalan company Cíclicus, within the framework of the XVII International Clownbaret Festival of the Canary Islands.

Cíclicus was founded by Leandro Mendoza Artagaveitia, playwright, director and circus artist, together with Tanja Haupt, musician.

Both created the company with the aim of producing shows, and then became promoters of works and stage productions in which they united their two artistic disciplines: circus and music.

For its part, the show is about three older artists, who find themselves in an arts and crafts warehouse, where society places those objects that it considers no longer productive.

There they coincide with young characters and a generational contrast occurs, with collisions, and at the same time complicities.

The work documents their journey in the artistic world, highlighting the strength and resilience that has allowed them to reach the stage again.

Through an intergenerational journey and memory, ‘Vetus Venustas’ reflects on their existence as artists and as human beings beyond age, “demonstrating that it is possible to accept and adapt life changes, including in artistic professions. ”.

Finally, tickets are now available on the theater’s own website: www.teatroguimera.es/programacion-2023.
