The Minister of Territorial Policy, Territorial Cohesion and Water of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuel Miranda, has signed the document that allows the electronic headquarters of the El Rincón Consortium to be put into operation, in La Orotava, and thus to maintain telematic file control of the management carried out by the entity.
The entity’s objective is to manage and execute the planning instruments for the space corresponding to El Rincón, as well as to carry out urban infrastructure works, create, manage and promote the expropriation of land intended for public infrastructure and maintain, conserve and protect the natural environment. among other tasks.
The Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo of Tenerife and the City Council of La Orotava will work hand in hand to update the El Rincón Special Plan to adapt it to the new needs of the population. In this aspect and to carry out the projects derived from it, the company is 65% financed by the regional government; 25% by the Tenerife Cabildo and the remaining 10% is the responsibility of the City Council.
At the signing ceremony, the organizational structure was confirmed, made up of representatives of the three public institutions that make up the entity, as well as neighborhood associations and environmental groups linked to the territory. This Executive Commission meets every two months, while the General Council meets twice a year. “With this act of launching the electronic headquarters of the El Rincón Consortium, we mark the beginning of a new stage in which the administrations will work hand in hand to value and enhance the particularities of this enclave of La Orotava,” commented the general director of Territorial Planning, Onán Cruz.
The roadmap of the Department of Territorial Policy involves assuming leadership in planning, with the aim of “facing the current challenges of space, promoting its values and making different uses compatible,” Cruz concluded.
For this, coordination and cooperation between all the agents and administrations involved is essential, where the public company Gesplan plays a decisive role in completing the adaptation and updating of the El Rincón Special Plan.
