Technical and political representatives of the four local corporations held a meeting this week to analyze the situation at the shelter and have agreed to urge the Council to call a meeting to agree on a solution that would allow the center’s facilities to be expanded and improved in a new location.

At that meeting they analyzed the different technical reports prepared by the La Laguna City Council on the current location of the shelter, the expansion needs reported by its managers and the possibilities that exist for expansion or transfer, as reported by the local La Laguna corporation.

The documentation provided reveals that the urban situation and the classification of the land where the center is located makes its expansion impossible, adds the City Council.

In order to expand these dependencies, which would entail “certain risks” due to the land on which it sits, a modification to the planning would have to be resorted to, which could take up to two years of processing, explains La Laguna. Those attending the meeting agreed that this is an emergency situation that requires an imminent solution.

All the town councils involved are already contacting their different urban planning departments to detect possible plots that meet the established requirements and, in this way, make them available to the Cabildo of Tenerife so that the island administration can assume the management of the new center. and decide your new location.

The reports from the La Laguna City Council point to deficiencies in the façade and interior of this infrastructure, which is why it is considered necessary to transfer the shelter’s activity to another suitable facility, with the aim of avoiding any risk to the activity, its professionals and the animals it houses.
