The town councils of La Laguna, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Tegueste and El Rosario have met this week to analyze the situation of the Valle Colino regional hostel and have agreed to urge the Cabildo of Tenerife to call an urgent meeting, as it is an island competition , to agree on a solution that allows the center’s facilities to be expanded and improved in a new location.
Technical and political representatives of the local administrations analyzed the different technical reports prepared by the La Laguna City Council on the current location of the shelter, the expansion needs reported by those responsible and the possibilities that exist for expansion or transfer.
The documentation provided reveals that the urban situation and the classification of the land where the center is located makes its expansion impossible.
Thus, the La Laguna City Council details in a note, in order to expand these dependencies, which would entail “certain risks” due to the land on which it sits, a modification of the planning would have to be resorted to, which could entail up to two years of processing.
Therefore, everyone present agreed that this is an emergency situation that requires an “imminent solution.”
All the town councils involved are already contacting their different urban planning departments to detect possible plots that meet the established requirements and, in this way, make them available to the Cabildo of Tenerife so that the island administration can assume the management of the new center. and decide your new location.
The reports from the La Laguna City Council point to deficiencies in the façade and interior of this infrastructure, which is why it is considered necessary to transfer the shelter’s activity to another suitable facility, with the aim of avoiding any risk to the activity, its professionals and the animals it houses in its premises.
