SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of Industry of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Manuel Fernández, has held a meeting with the businessmen of the Güímar industrial estate and has stated that the insular Corporation is looking for solutions to the “situation of abandonment” suffered by this estate, which sits on the municipalities of Güímar, Arafo and Candelaria.
The counselor assured that the Cabildo will “lead the creation of an organization to manage it,” to which he added that although “it is not an insular competition, and given the state of abandonment in which the around the industrial estate”, they are also going to promote, as a supra-municipal administration, “an action to fine-tune the entire area, with the aim of ensuring that it has adequate conservation for the activity that takes place there.”
The businessmen conveyed to the Minister of Industry their concern about the situation of the industrial estate, that “although it is an administrative unit, we depend on different administrations, which causes problems of various kinds, which harms normal business activity, and especially, causes a deterioration in the environment”.
Given this circumstance, Manuel Fernández announced that the Cabildo will facilitate meetings with the municipalities where the industrial estate is located, with the aim of expediting the correct conservation of this environment, as well as the management model.
“We are aware of the strategic importance that this industrial estate has for the economy of Tenerife, so our intention is to lead a process that, with the commitment of all parties, ends with a definitive solution for the situation that businessmen have suffered through over the last decade,” he added.
Fernández concluded that promoting industrial activity “is a way to attract investment to our island, contributing to the creation of stable and quality employment, and for this reason, we understand that the Cabildo must work hand in hand with businessmen and city councils. on which the Güímar industrial estate is based, so that it maintains a thriving and fundamental economic activity for the island.
