SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The municipality of Los Silos will host the 16th edition of the Boreal Festival from September 21 to 24, which will include 25 musical proposals by artists from 13 countries that will place the island of Tenerife on the cultural map with an eco-festival of international reference and character. multidisciplinary. Although the main cultural offer is music, Boreal has always been open to welcoming various artistic disciplines, betting on inclusion, sustainability and biodiversity as axes and elements of interweaving.
In its official presentation held today, Monday, the vice president and Tourism Councilor of the Tenerife Cabildo, Lope Afonso, highlighted that Boreal “is a festival that influences; in the Cabildo it involves a total of three areas. This shows everything it can give itself a well-planned cultural event”. He also highlighted “the cultural importance within the global planning of Tenerife Tourism, which is increasing. Visitors want to know more about the soul of the Island, and festivals like Boreal are an example of this.”
For his part, the director of the exhibition, Javier Jiménez, pointed out that Boreal “has become a draw effect at the national and international level.” “We have become a benchmark in events of this profile and we have done so without losing our essence as an eco-festival. Luckily, today we can say that these types of events are increasingly common.” Jiménez wanted to highlight the Festival’s commitment to emerging Canarian creators: “We want to serve as a platform for opportunities, we do not want to remain solely a platform for established artists. We work to discover proposals so that our audience can also enjoy them.”
The mayor of Los Silos, Carmen Luz Baso, wanted to highlight that culture “is in luck after 16 years of celebration.” “It is an achievement that should not be underestimated. Once again we will be the scene of one of the most important ecofestivals in the country; we have the support of the public that attends each year and this is also shown by the important awards that this festival has received throughout throughout its history,” he added.

This is a commitment to the musical identity of the festival: artists are not in the current scope of the commercial music circuits. To the Boreal you come to discover what music there is in the world, you come to discover a great eclecticism of music and sounds. This is one of the main pillars of the ecofestival.
Another important pillar is the range of environmental activities offered to the public. Exhibitions, screenings, talks, workshops, dialogues and family activities are a fundamental part of the Boreal Festival that show how the biodiversity of Tenerife and the Canary Islands can be conserved; and they also emphasize sustainability as a way of life.
The Boreal Festival is organized by Folelé Producciones and is sponsored by the Cabildo de Tenerife through Turismo de Tenerife, Cultura y Acción Exterior, the City Council of Los Silos, the Government of the Canary Islands through Promotur Turismo Islas Canarias, the Instituto Canario of Cultural Development, the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Fight against Climate Change, and the General Directorate of Youth. Other organizations, entities and companies also collaborate.
