SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo of Tenerife will open to traffic the new roundabout on the TF-652 island road as it passes through Guargacho, in the municipalities of San Miguel de Abona and Arona, next October.

Specifically, it is a strategic infrastructure to improve mobility and traffic safety conditions since this road connects Las Chafiras with Las Galletas and gives access to Costa del Silencio, Las Rosas, Guargacho and Oroteanda Baja.

The works on the Guargacho roundabout have had a budget of half a million euros.

The president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, who visited the works this Friday accompanied by the Minister of Highways, Dámaso Arteaga; the mayor of Arona, Fátima Lemes and the accidental mayor of San Miguel de Abona, Lot García.

The president of the island corporation highlighted the importance of the improvement works because “it is a roundabout that had a huge accident rate and interventions are being made to improve the conditions of the road.”

In his opinion, “it is essential for us that in four or five weeks traffic can be incorporated back into the roundabout, which will alleviate the situation of traffic jams that are occurring in the south of Tenerife, which is one of the priorities as president of the Cabildo”.

The mayor of Arona, Fátima Lemes, expressed her gratitude to the Cabildo for the “speed that has been given to these works and the paving of roads that are so necessary for so many years that have suffered abandonment and that will finally be improved.”

Along the same lines, the accidental mayor of San Miguel de Abona, Lot García, highlighted that the improvement of the Guargacho roundabout was a work of the utmost importance because it was a point of accidents that had been suffered in the municipality “firsthand” by for which they thank the Cabildo “for acting so quickly and forcefully.”

For his part, the Minister of Highways, Dámaso Arteaga, pointed out that “in parallel with the start-up of the new roundabout, the Tenerife Cabildo will begin improvement work on the pavement of TF-652, TF-653 and TF -662 in the municipality of Arona with a cost of two million euros.”

Specifically, the work will be carried out on the TF-662, which runs parallel to the TF-1 highway on the mountain side and is accessed from the TF-66 near the Guaza interchange and leads to the TF-655.

The road has deteriorated areas along its route and, in rainy seasons, the ravines that cross the infrastructure pour large amounts of water and solids onto the surface of the road.

The works will be divided into two sections: the first between Guaza and the gas station (PPKK 0+000 to 2+177), while the second will start from the gas station to PPKK 2+177 to 2+314.

1.3 MILLION AND FOUR MONTHS

The intervention has a budget of 1.3 million euros and an execution period of four months, once the work begins, according to a note from the Cabildo.

Regarding the TF-652 and TF-653 roads, in the first case, the works will consist of the partial elimination and replacement of the pavement and improvement of road safety with the widening of the shoulder around KP 5+350 (La Estrella ) and in the case of the TF-653 (Guargacho-Palm-Mar), in addition to the improvement of the pavement, the widening of the shoulders and the installation of metal safety barriers will be carried out to prevent the risk of accident with the road exiting towards a significant gap.

The cost of the works amounts to more than 800,000 euros and will have an execution period of four months, once the work has started.
