Santa Cruz de Tenerife presents a colorful mural in one of its streets

San Clemente Street in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is home to a new large-format urban art mural. This is a work made by the artist Iker Muro and promoted by the initiative Immerse yourself in Santa Cruz, promoted by Fundación Cepsa and which has the support of the capital’s City Council, through the Autonomous Organization of Culture.

This is a new work of outdoor art in which the author, an internationally recognized urban muralist, has chosen to reflect a theme related to leading a healthy lifestyle.

This fresh and colorful mural, which appears between earthy-colored buildings, and in which the artist has captured a still life where fruit plays a relevant role. There also appear a banana, an orange and a watermelon and a vase with flowers taken to a language closer to geometric abstraction.

“A piece of bright colors that transmits calm, a call to relax, eat healthy and contemplate the beauty of our customs,” says Iker Muro after completing the design, made with acrylic paint, after a week of work.

The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, thanked Fundación Cepsa and the artist for “their involvement in bringing art to the streets of our municipality,” and highlighted “the importance of this type of actions that give life to spaces that otherwise otherwise they would remain empty,” adding that “without a doubt, this mural adds to the list of essential visits for tourism in our city and makes it a reference for urban art.”

The head of Fundación Cepsa, Belén Machado, highlighted that “this outdoor urban art project in the capital of Tenerife, created and promoted for more than a decade by Fundación Cepsa, has already contributed 25 large-format murals to the city, making it in a constantly changing canvas and contributing to its transformation also through art with social content.”

For his part, the Councilor for Culture, Santiago Díaz, highlighted “that these types of initiatives, in which the Santa Cruz City Council collaborates, involve making visible a first-rate manifestation of urban art in different enclaves of the city” and He adds that “this type of artists and creators have constituted a trend and a manifestation, often demanding, that is present in the physiognomy of the main cities of the world.”

The murals of Immerse yourself in Santa Cruz They aim to revitalize and transform urban spaces that lack aesthetics or go unnoticed, turning them into windows to creativity and a platform for artists to share their perspectives and narratives. The work presented this Monday is number 25 of the initiative.
