Thus, the Ministry’s commitment is to increase operating room activity, with the aim of having two more operating rooms in operation in the first half of 2024, while continuing to develop the implementation of the new Hemodialysis Unit that will be put out to tender. in the first quarter of next year.
Another of the planned actions concerns emergency care, which will be reinforced with an increase in laboratory activity and computerized tomography (CT) studies 24 hours a day, which will allow greater agility and efficiency of this service, avoiding unnecessary trips. to the La Candelaria Hospital, especially at night, by increasing the resolution of diagnostic tests at the Hospital del Sur.
In addition, work is being done on the renovation of a CT scan to provide it with superior technology and capacity, as well as on the updating of Magnetic Resonance (MRI) equipment that would allow, in both cases, to undertake more complex studies at the Hospital del Sur. , which currently cannot be carried out, avoiding the transfer of users to their reference center.
Likewise, the ProHospital del Sur Platform was informed of other improvements planned in the area of diagnostic tests, with the recent incorporation of a telemandoradiography equipment that allows more complex studies to be carried out than conventional radiology equipment and that complements the area of diagnosis by image of this hospital center.
Another priority action to increase the portfolio of services, meeting the population’s demand for care, is the implementation of a chemotherapy unit in the hospital center so that cancer patients can receive their treatment in their basic area of care. health without having to go to the La Candelaria Hospital, the Government reports in a note.
To implement these actions, the hiring of the necessary staff is planned, among which are specialist radiodiagnosis technicians, laboratory technicians, nurses and nursing assistants, among other personnel.
