The Department of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands, headed by Pablo Rodríguez, has awarded, through the Canary Islands Housing Institute (Icavi), the contract to build a new development of sixty-five officially protected properties in the neighborhood of San Antonio, in the municipality of La Orotava, on the island of Tenerife.
Icavi has signed the contract with the company Construplan Construcciones y Planning SL for a total amount of 7,483,617.52 euros, within the framework of the Canary Islands Housing Plan 2020-2025.
This group of properties will be built on an area of 3,393.11 square meters, and will be distributed in two collective housing buildings four stories high, organized into two portals each, with their corresponding stairs, independent elevators, garage and storage rooms.
Both buildings will have a total of 32 and 33 homes, respectively, with up to four bedrooms. Likewise, the project includes two houses reserved for People with Reduced Mobility (PMR) and a sheltered apartment.
Each building has a fire-fighting water tank, as well as two supply tanks, one for each portal, with their corresponding hydrocompressors.
In addition, the properties comply with the Technical Building Code (CTE) in terms of energy efficiency, as they are equipped with solar panels for the production of hot water and thermal insulation throughout their envelope.
This new development joins another batch of 65 homes already built in the same municipal area and which was delivered to the plaintiffs in 2015, with the aim of continuing to expand the public housing stock in the Archipelago.
Citizen Attention
The La Orotava City Council has already opened the ‘La Orotava Sostenible’ Citizen Assistance Office to the public, located on Calvario Street nº2 on the corner of Cantos Canarios Street (former municipal Tourist Information Office). The service is open to the public from Monday to Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This is a free advice point for energy savings; waste management at home or in the company; subsidies for the installation of solar panels and other clean energies and general information on invasive flora and fauna and care of the territory, among other things.
