SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, said this Tuesday that the 2024 regional budget will be “prudent” given the lack of pending items from this year’s PGE and the uncertainty derived from the management of the acting Government.

“It is preferable to be prudent and approve an extraordinary credit law than to be reckless,” he commented in response to questions from CC and PP in the control session of the Plenary of Parliament in which he recognized that the interim nature of the central Executive is “burdening “to the autonomous communities.

Clavijo has indicated that in addition to the usual slowdown derived from the last regional elections, 84% of the items foreseen in the PGE have not been transferred, nor has the spending ceiling been set, nor have payments on account been well defined. the spending rules.

He has recognized that there are “difficulties in dialogue” to ensure that the planned items and agreements are fulfilled and the main consequence “is a worse service to citizens” due to “political instability.”

For this reason, he has asked the central government for “institutional loyalty” because it is “essential” that it be involved in solving the problems of the islands, even more so when “the PGE are a law and must be complied with.”

“If it is not fulfilled, what message do we convey to the citizens?” he asked, highlighting that “it is not fair”, so they hope that the ministers receive the members of the Canarian Government “and do their job.” “Even if we are in office, the items can be transferred,” she highlighted.

The spokesperson for the Popular Group, Luz Reverón, has stated that we are living a “very delicate moment” because the central government is in office and should be preparing the PGE but “uncertainty ends up slowing down development and taking its toll on the economy.”

Along these lines, he has charged against the “inaction” of the Executive that “just wants, whatever the cost,” to achieve the “continuity” of Pedro Sánchez in La Moncloa with the support of the “extreme left and separatist groups.”

REVERÓN: “THEY ONLY THINK ABOUT CUTTING UP SPAIN”

According to Reverón, the Government “can and should facilitate” that public administrations can make their own budgets but so far it has not established a spending ceiling, it has not explained how the spending rules are set or made payments on account of the autonomous financing.

“They only think about breaking up Spain, ending equality and negotiating with a fugitive, a coup de grace to the Constitution and the rule of law and which has the applause of the PSOE in the Canary Islands and throughout Spain,” he added.

The president of the Nationalist Group, David Toledo, has vindicated the agreement reached by CC with the 2023 PGE after the “systematic mistreatment” of the central government and that includes 100 million for the reconstruction of La Palma, the 60% bonus on personal income tax , 50 million to serve migrants or 42 million from the employment plan.

“We could not allow the Canarians to be second-class citizens,” he stated, which is why he asked Clavijo for a “firm hand” in the claim before the Government.
