Seems like yesterday and time flies as fast as a dove. Next, I want to leave history, since it is my task and obligation, about the most relevant part of the parish. On September 7, 2022 was the first mass of our parish priest Francisco Jesús Hernández y Hernández, which took place at 7 in the afternoon, being accompanied by the priests of the Archpriest of this North. Likewise, the authorities of the municipalities of La Orotava and Puerto de La Cruz, parishioners, relatives, neighbors and friends were present. The church was full.
La Vera has received our parish priest, Francisco Jesús Hernández, well received, and he, without a doubt, has won over his people. It has been an experience, in twelve months, that has helped him become aware, where he has carried out his mission, obligations and exercised his responsibility.
I have read somewhere that, since his arrival in the parish, he wanted to be a friend to the faithful, as well as a priest. But at the same time try and strictly comply with the following: “The priest can even be forgiven a sin, but never a bad character or the love of money.”
The great obsession of our priest, Francisco Jesús, since his arrival, has been to work for people on the streets, for the most humble. In fact, he has involved many people to help them. He has gotten many people to donate food and others to cook for them. He has always been very aware of these people. The same working, in meetings, as well as in Cáritas Arciprestal. Currently he is preparing a festival for the benefit of the accommodation resource Cáritas del Valle de la Orotava María Blanca.
This year he has done everything that the obligations of the parish entail. Masses, deaths, baptisms, weddings, confirmations and communions. The neighborhood hopes it continues in the same way.
