He Tenerife Council reinforces the line 1 with a new tram starting next Monday, September 11. The company Metrotenerife, dependent on the Insular Corporation, has been adapting its transportation offer to the demand that has increased this year. Due to the free public transport, this demand has been increasing since the beginning of the year, so since January, one more tram was added to the service during peak hours. Now, with the arrival of school year and the restart of activity after the summer, a rebound in passengers is expected, so Metrotenerife will expand its capacity during these hours of maximum demand in the morning and midday on weekdays.

The counselor of Mobility, Eulalia Garcia points out that “demand is expected to increase starting next week, so this reinforcement will provide a greater frequency of trams in service. The normal frequency had been five minutes, but with the incorporation of the new vehicles, it will be possible to reach approximately four and a half minutes of frequency for each stop.”

On the other hand, García recalled that of the 17 trams that circulated on line 1 in 2022, there were 18 at the beginning of this year, which represented an increase of 6% in the offer and, now with the expansion to 19 trams Along these lines, there is a cumulative improvement of 12% in service capacity compared to 2022. As for line 2, the service of the three trams is maintained.

Winter schedule: weekdays

From Monday to Friday, the tram service begins at 6 in the morning, and in general, Line 1 will provide service every 4 and a half minutes in the periods of greatest demand of the day, between 7:00 and 15:00 hours. After this time, the trams will pass with a frequency of 6, 12 and 15 minutes, depending on the time zone and until 12 at night.

For its part, Line 2 will have 10-minute frequencies in the morning and at noon. Starting at 3:00 p.m., the passage intervals will be 12 and 15 minutes until the service ends at midnight. Tram services on weekends will not be modified and will be the same as those operated all year round.

Metrotenerife informs that the winter schedule can be consulted on its social networks (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @tranviatenerife), on your corporate website and on the panels of the tram stop network. Likewise, drivers and pedestrians are asked to exercise caution and respect traffic rules and signs to avoid any type of incident on the roads.
