SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 7 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Tenerife Tourism Administration Council, an entity dependent on the Cabildo, has appointed this Thursday Dimple Melwani as the organization’s new CEO.
The vice president of the Cabildo and head of the Tourism area, Lope Afonso, thanked the previous CEO for the work done and points out that Melwani’s appointment is made “with the purpose of continuing to promote a leading destination like Tenerife and continue providing value to the hand of the actors that the island has”.
Afonso points out in a note that “the destination is made with everyone in mind, so it is important that joint action is well channeled through Tenerife Tourism, and together with public administrations, as well as with the private sector.”
Along these lines, they indicate that they want the entire tourism value chain in Tenerife to “feel represented by institutional action” and trust that this stage “will maintain that pulse, reaching the objectives that are set to be the competitive destination that it should continue being Tenerife”.
For her part, Dimple Melwani is “very grateful and excited” about the appointment.
“It is an honor to represent this institution, which has a fully committed team of people and I assume the position with total respect, responsibility and great professionalism,” he highlights.
The challenge for the new CEO is to “work side by side for the tourism sector so that Tenerife continues to be a leader” and therefore she points out that we must “continue betting on making quality flourish in all areas, such as in regeneration of tourist spaces, as well as at the level of professionalism, and that this manages to increase tourist spending”.
According to Melwani, “the final objective is that tourism, which is the sector that has the greatest weight in the GDP of the Canary Islands, can have a positive impact on the economy of all the Canary Islands.”
The new CEO of Tenerife Tourism has also thanked the work of her predecessor, David Pérez, ensuring that she will hold a meeting with him to work on the issues that are already being developed in Tenerife Tourism and continue with them.
