SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 4 (EUROPA PRESS) –
This Monday, the Government Council of the Canary Islands authorized the increase in spending by 1.22 million euros for the project to improve public dams in the municipality of San Sebastián de La Gomera, bringing the total allocated to the project to 3.96 million euros.
The modified project incorporates a series of additional works focused on the removal of earth, sludge and vegetation from the vessels and bottom galleries of the dams. Specifically, it covers the execution and improvements of access to the dams, both on foot and by road, along with changes in the design and typology of the protection bars and the plugs of the bottom galleries.
In addition, it includes various modifications to the valves (replacement of elements in poor condition) and adjustments to the electrical installation, the increase in underwater work in the operations of shielding and unshielding the dam, and the expansion of the treatment and shielding surface. of the bottom drain pipes.
Measurements of different work units have also increased (repair of screens in dams, drilling, volumes of earth to be removed, as well as fencing and stairs).
The documentation accompanying the proposed agreement explains that it has been necessary to make these changes to the original project to address situations that could not be known or foreseen during its initial drafting phase, since many elements of the dams were hidden or were inaccessible in safe conditions until the works began.
Furthermore, these dams were in operation and exploited by the Insular Water Council of La Gomera, which made it impossible to empty them during the drafting phase of the project.
Finally, the entry into force of various state regulations during the execution of the works has affected the technical safety standards for dams and reservoirs, as well as the safety conditions of diving activities, which has required changes with with respect to the original project.
