The Las Teresitas beach lived a boom in the 80s. It was the Favorite beach for Santacruceros and Santacruceras and one of the reasons is that it was growing in services and offering. One of them, little remembered, had to do with leisure.
A private proposal motivated that in the Las Teresitas beach slides were installed, as if it were a water park. Curiously, she was not installed near the sea, but quite the opposite, next to the permanent post of the Red Cross.
Two slides, with several loops each, ran parallel to a shallow pool. The venue was closed off, so there were long queues to get in for 125 pesetas, a special bonus, because every time someone wanted to jump they had to pay, otherwise, 25 pesetas.
It is true that it had problems, because with a simple review in the Tenerife Photos Facebook group, many testimonies recognize that one of the problems was the certain “lack of control” when launching, which led to, sometimes, not It was the most recommended for young children.
The slides on Las Teresitas beach would remain until the mid-80s, when they were removed, mainly because their maintenance was expensive. Furthermore, the fashion for jumping off those slides was, little by little, disappearing.
