He Tenerife Council wishes to emphatically remind the population of the absolute prohibition of access to the mountainous areas of the municipalities affected by the forest fire. This measure is taken in response to the detection of a significant number of people who have been observed walking on the trails and trails, as well as using bicycles and riding horses in these areas.

The Minister of the Natural Environment, Blanca Pérez, makes an urgent call to the population to avoid any activity in these areas. Pérez emphasizes that the fire is not yet under control, continues to spread and represents a considerable risk to people’s safety. Therefore, it is imperative that the presence in the forest be avoided while the fire remains active within its perimeter.
It is important to note that the Cabildo maintains activated the Special Plan for Civil Protection and Emergency Response for Forest Fires of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (INFOCA) and the Territorial Insular Emergency Plan (PEIN), given that the forest fire has not yet been controlled.
In response to this situation, the Cabildo has implemented grade 3 measures in the municipalities affected by the fire, which include the prohibition of lighting fires in recreational areas and traveling on forest tracks and trails. Staying in the mountains and carrying out activities that involve open fire, such as bonfires, stoves, barbecues and gas stoves, as well as pyrotechnic displays, are also prohibited. In addition, the use of machinery and tools that can generate sparks and the circulation of motor vehicles on forest trails for recreational purposes are prohibited. Hunting activity is prohibited in most of the affected municipalities, with the exception of Güímar and Fasnia.
As for the roads, it is It is important to note that access to the Teide National Park through roads TF-24 (La Esperanza) and TF-21 (La Orotava) remain closed to traffic to guarantee the safety of people and facilitate extinction efforts. The TF-523 highway (Subida Los Loros) is also closed. However, access to Teide National Park is still possible through Vilaflor (TF-21) and Chío (TF-38).
