The Aguamansa canal has been repaired after a new break that has compromised the water supply in several Tenerife municipalities

A new rupture in the Aguamansa channel registered this past dawn has compromised the supply of drinking water from the Tenerife municipalities of Santa Úrsula to El Rosario, including areas of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna.

The information was advanced by the Minister of Natural Environment, Sustainability, Emergencies and Security of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Blanca Pérez, in statements to the program Good morning of Canarian Television.

Pérez indicated that workers accompanied by firefighters were already accessing the area “to see if it can be repaired” because the canal is on a “very unstable” slope that has suffered “problems” in the form of landslides during the Tenerife fire.

“Let’s hope it is in an accessible area and can be repaired, because if not we are going to have serious supply problems,” pointed out the counselor, since “there are 1,800 water pipes and with the water problem we have on the island it is the worst news we can give today ”, admitted the counselor.

Finally, minutes before 4:00 p.m., Tenerife Firefighters reported through their social networks that the repair had been completed and the canal was now operational again.
