SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 29 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Canarian Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy (ICHH), dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, and the Parliament of the Canary Islands, once again collaborate with an extraction room located in the Exhibition Hall of the Chamber until Friday during business hours from 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 4:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The inauguration ceremony of the campaign took place this Tuesday and was attended by the president of the ICHH, Gemma Torres Aguiar, and the president of the Autonomous Chamber, Astrid Pérez.
Gemma Torres thanked the Chamber for the “commitment” it always shows to donating blood, especially in the summer, “when the number of donations drops considerably.”
The president of the ICHH also explained that “at this time the population breaks with its routine, moves away from its habitual residence and relaxes its habits, and in this context, blood donations suffer, however, hospital needs continue to be the same”.
For her part, the President of the Parliament stressed that “donating blood is an act of solidarity and social responsibility” and recalled that the Parliament of the Canary Islands directly joins “the objective that the islands always have the necessary blood to guarantee the life and health of the people who need it”.
“In just a few minutes we can help save many lives. It is a gesture that honors and from here we applaud and thank all the donors on the islands,” concluded Astrid Pérez.
The ICHH reminds the population of the need to plan their donations in the summer, before, during or upon returning from their holidays, in order to guarantee the reserves of the Canary Transfusion Center.
Not surprisingly, at this time donations of all blood groups are needed to meet the hospital demand, collects a note from Parliament.
REQUIREMENTS TO DONATE BLOOD
The basic requirements to donate blood are to be between 18 and 65 years old (up to 60 if it is your first donation), weigh more than 50 kilos, be in good general health and not be pregnant.
However, since there are multiple variables that can determine the suitability of the donor, the ICHH makes available to the public on its website effectodonacion.com a self-assessment questionnaire with which to check if blood can be donated.
To donate blood, you can go directly to the extraction room or make an appointment by calling 012 or 922 470 012 (option 8), Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or by completing the appointment form published on the efectodonacion website. .com.
Before going to donate, it is advisable to review the information published on this same web page in the covid-19 protocol tab and answer the self-assessment test to check if you can donate blood.
