Paulino Rivero Baute, former president of the Government of the Canary Islands and current president of the Tenerife Sports Club, will be the preacher of the Fiestas del Santísimo Cristo de La Laguna 2023, which will be held between September 7 and 21, including popular, cultural and religious.
The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, has valued the career of Paulino Rivero in different public and private institutions, highlighting his tenure as head of the regional Executive between 2007 and 2015. “He is one of the relevant figures of the Canary Islands, so for La Laguna it is an honor to have him in an act of this importance and tradition for all lagoons and lagoons “, he added.
Rivero will be in charge of giving the starting signal to this festivity on September 7 with the reading of the proclamation, starting at 8:30 p.m., in the atrium of the Royal Sanctuary of the Holy Christ of La Laguna. The traditional proclamation will be accompanied by a musical performance by the Polyphonic Choir of the University of La Laguna. The mayor also announced that this coming Friday the presentation of the official poster and the final program of these festivities in honor of the Christ of La Laguna will take place.

Paulino Rivero Baute (El Sauzal, 1952) has chaired Club Deportivo Tenerife since December 2022, by virtue of the agreement adopted by the General Meeting of Shareholders of the aforementioned institution, being the twenty-second councilor in its more than one hundred years of history.
Previously, he was mayor of El Sauzal, between 1979 and 2007, a responsibility that he made compatible as a councilor of the Cabildo de Tenerife (1983-1999), in different departments and tasks, including the Sports area. On July 11, 2007, he was elected President of the Government of the Canary Islands, a position that he revalidated in 2011, performing these functions until July 9, 2015.
