The fire has devastated 8% of the island’s surface in Tenerife, some 15,000 hectares in a perimeter of 90 kilometers and, although it is already perimeter, it is still not considered controlled because there are some reactivations. It is the worst fire in 40 years and although it has affected crops and beehives, some 3,000, the worst has been taken by the forests. Even in protected areas, such as the more than a thousand hectares that it has burned in the Teide National Park. The residents hope that the declaration of a catastrophic area will help with the difficult recovery of the burned area. The 26,000 evicted have already returned home.
