SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife maintains the prohibition of making fires in recreational areas and of traveling along the tracks and forest trails of the municipalities affected by the forest fire.
The island corporation maintains grade 3 measures activated in said municipalities, which means, in addition to the aforementioned restrictions, the prohibition of staying in the mountains and making fire outdoors (bonfires, stoves, barbecues, gas stoves); pyrotechnic displays and the use of machinery and tools that cause sparks.
In addition, it will not be possible to circulate with motor vehicles on forest tracks for recreational purposes and camping areas and campsites continue to be closed, collects a note from the corporation.
For the rest of the municipalities, grade 2 measures are applied, which contemplate the prohibition of making fires in recreational areas, camping areas and campsites, burning agricultural or forest residues and bonfires.
Likewise, hunting activity continues to be suspended and work with machinery or tools is prohibited, as well as the use of elements that can generate sparks in agricultural or forest spaces, such as brushcutters and welding equipment.
Similarly, sporting events and pilgrimages on tracks and forest trails and off-road are not allowed.
The Natural Environment Minister, Blanca Pérez, points out that “the fire is not controlled, so it is necessary that the public continue to comply with the instructions issued by the firefighting department.”
Thus, he indicates, “we recommend that the population not access or remain in the forest areas of the island of Tenerife and that they exercise extreme precautions throughout the island territory with any activity that could generate fires.”
