Intersindical Canaria has sent separate letters addressed to the Presidency of the Cabildo de Tenerife and to the political groups of CC, PP and PSOE, in which they demand that the funds foreseen for the construction of the Motor Circuit be allocated to the preservation of the rural environment and aerial means for the fire fighting.
In a statement, Intersindical Canaria reports that it has registered both writings this Thursday at the Cabildo headquarters and justifies its request in “the little social utility and the damages that are going to occur on the enclave of the so-called Motor Circuit”, whose budget round the €60 million.
Especially given the situation of “neglect of real needs” of Tenerife and its inhabitants, “who have to do at the present time with the recovery from the effects of the progressive destruction of its natural spaces, aggravated by the devastating fire that ruins our territory“.
He asks that this money be allocated, as a finalist, to the protection of the rural environment with the impulse of the agricultural sectors, implemented in such a way as “a natural barrier” to prevent forest fires.
And that it also goes to improve the “limited system of aerial extinguishing media available on the island“, either alone or with the collaboration of the Government of the Canary Islands.
The objective, wields Intersindical Canaria, is “to prevent new and disastrous events that are highly harmful to a unique animal and plant biodiversity in the world in an environment officially declared a ‘Climate Emergency’ and ‘Especially sensitive to the effects of climate change'”.
