SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has sent, during the night of this Monday and first thing this Tuesday, five reclaimed water flushing tanks with a capacity of 8,000 liters each to fill the tanks of the Izaña Observatory.

It is in the observatory tanks from where the helicopters that are in charge of extinguishing the fire have been loading water for almost a week, as reported by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council in a press release.

In total some 80,000 liters of water have been supplied and for this the cleaning company, Valoriza, has coordinated the work from the Public Services area and the company itself.

The mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, has indicated that since August 16, “all the resources necessary to collaborate in the extinction tasks or to help the affected population” have been made available to the operation.

In this sense, he pointed out that Civil Protection has had a device deployed in the area since then and now the Valoriza tanks are added. The objective, he explained, “is to ensure that the water resources in the Izaña area are not lacking”, affirming that the capital of the island “will always be by the side of those who need help and even more so in these tragic circumstances for Tenerife”. .
