President’s visit

The acting president of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has traveled to Tenerife to learn about the areas affected by the fire and has announced on Monday that the Council of Ministers will declare the affected parties as a “catastrophic area” or “seriously affected area”.

The next few hours will be crucial to control the fire. “I hope the weather is with us” said the president, who has insisted on remembering the good coordination between the Government of the Canary Islands, councils and town halls in the extinction work.

Sánchez recalled that it was in La Palma where an important conference of regional presidents and presidents was held where the civil protection response was modernized.
