SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Government of the Canary Islands has indicated that the early hours of this Monday have focused on working “intensely” in Izaña, in Tenerife, after a change in the wind, and with the aim of avoiding damage to the infrastructure of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canary Islands (IAC).
As reported by the regional Executive, there are some secondary outbreaks in Arico but they assure that they “are not dangerous” for the population; while in the rest of the perimeter, both on the northern and southern slopes, there have been no relevant incidents.
The fire, which began in the Arafo mountains on the night of August 15, remains uncontrolled although many areas in the south have been stabilized, although it has already reached 12,812 hectares affected in a perimeter that covers about 90 kilometers that affects 11 municipalities on the island.
