The gestures of solidarity towards the extensive operation that fights the flames in the Forest Crown of Tenerife They have not ceased since the fire broke out. The last two actions have to do with gastronomy. World Central Kitchen (WCK), the NGO of the Spanish chef who lives in the United States José Andrés Puerta, and two guachinches from Tenerife selflessly feed the brigades deployed on the front lines of the fire.
José Andrés’ solidarity organization already distributes sandwiches and drinks in the mountains of Tenerife, both on the North and South slopes. This same entity also collaborated with the palm trees affected by the volcanic eruption that occurred two years ago in La Palma.
Meanwhile, El Fogón de Los Baldíos and Brazas y Calderos de Guamasa, both guachinches located in La Laguna, offer food from Friday to the members of the firefighting deployment. It is told by the owner of both establishments, Rayco Tosco, who did not hesitate in second place to put his team at the service of those who fight against the flames in an extremely complicated fire.
On Friday they distributed 150 servings of peas and breaded chicken breast with salad and yesterday they played chickpeas and baked fish with sauce. They also gave away drinks. “Several companies that supply us with products have already called us to contribute their grain of sand and collaborate on these menus,” Tosco told this newspaper yesterday.
The idea is to increase the number of menus in the coming days with these contributions by more than 300. “The work that these teams are doing is extremely hard. You can tell when we see them all arrive covered in ashes, with black faces,” reveals Rayco, who claims to be “very concerned” with the evolution of the fire.
