SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Last night passed quietly in the Tenerife forest fire thanks to more favorable weather conditions than initially expected.

For its part, this Sunday, a total of 23 aerial means will fight during the day against the flames of the forest fire in Tenerife, active since last August 15 and which is out of extinguishing capacity.

This has been reported by the Government of the Canary Islands, which adds that, like every day, work from the air has resumed early in the morning.

During the night there was a total of 343 troops on the ground, of which 150 firefighters fought together with the Military Emergency Unit in the defense of material goods and homes in the evacuated areas.

According to the latest damage from last night, the forest fire spreads through 10 municipalities, although evacuations have been carried out in 11, with an area of almost 8,400 hectares in a very wide perimeter, with 70 kilometers.

The authorities have clarified that the real number of people evacuated is estimated at 12,279, once the data has been provided by the municipalities and security forces, apart from the census, which reflects a higher figure.

CURRENT FIRE SITUATION

Regarding the situation of the fire, the southern flank is quite consolidated and has been reinforced with retardant. Another perimeter sector, although with hot spots, is the one that goes from La Esperanza to Tacoronte.

There have been incidents in the Cerro area and in El Ravelo with high-intensity reproductions that have been attacked. The reactivations tonight may be greater and the evacuated areas should be prioritized.

The Santa Ursula front is advancing because it is inaccessible and the part of greatest concern is located in the Valley of La Orotava, where an important contingent of resources will be concentrated to defend the assets.

Meanwhile, the heights of Güímar (Cho Marcial) concentrated yesterday Saturday the most past aerial means, such as seaplanes, with the aim of lowering the intensity of the fire, although the smoke has not always allowed it, for which reason the line of defense
