
SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands has ordered the preventive evacuation of the Parador Nacional de El Teide due to the advance of the forest fire declared on August 15 on the island.
As reported by the regional Executive, it is a decision adopted based on the information available and in application of Decree 60/2014, of May 29, which approves the Special Plan for Civil Protection and Emergency Attention due to Forest Fires of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (INFOCA).
For its part, of the more than 12,000 people evacuated, there are 1,004 in the authorized shelters, since the majority were relocated to relatives’ houses. The situation in these centers is calm and they also welcome 310 pets.
