SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Government of the Canary Islands has reminded the population of the municipalities of Güímar, Arafo, Candelaria and El Rosario of the different recommendations regarding the episode of smoke from the forest fire that has affected the island of Tenerife since the night of August 15.
In a statement, the regional Executive has indicated that this type of smoke is made up of a mixture of gases and small particles that are emitted by the combustion of vegetation and other materials.
Here, the sensitive population/risk groups are considered to be people with previous respiratory or cardiac diseases, such as asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema; children, pregnant women and the elderly; and people who perform intense physical activity; and people with reduced mobility.
On the other hand, the probable symptoms are cough, irritation of the eyes, nose or throat; shortness of breath deeply, chest discomfort, palpitations, fatigue; aggravation of symptoms in people with previous respiratory or cardiac diseases.
However, it is recommended to avoid staying outside and carrying out intense or prolonged physical activities; close doors, windows, if you have air conditioning put it in recirculation mode and with clean filters; and outdoors, the use of an FFP2 mask is recommended to avoid respiratory problems and protect the eyes as much as possible, wash them if necessary.
