SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The aerial means have resumed early this Friday the discharges of water against the forest fire that began on the night of August 15 in Mount Arafo, on the island of Tenerife, after a night of work on land.
Specifically, during the night 226 troops intervened in the extinction device supported by a hundred from the security device and 40 from logistics.
Likewise, first thing in the morning, the 17 air resources have been incorporated, including those for coordination and 260 combatants on the ground.
According to the latest data from the Government of the Canary Islands, the fire continues out of control after having affected an area of 3,273 hectares in a perimeter of more than 40 kilometers that covers the municipalities of Arafo, Candelaria, El Rosario, La Orotava, Santa Úrsula, La Victoria, El Sauzal and Tacoronte, affecting the forest mass (pine forest), mostly on the La Esperanza mountain and the forest crown.
By municipalities, in Candelaria 1,134 hectares are affected, in Arafo 1,089; in El Rosario 505, in La Orotava 270, in Santa Úrsula 160, in La Victoria 60, in El Sauzal 39 and in Tacoronte 12 hectares.
For its part, the fire is moving due to the west wind towards the metropolitan area, with pattering and small attempts, which has conditioned the actions of the interveners, which is being mainly defensive, waiting for the fire to arrive with less intensity and be able to attack
Regarding the displaced persons, during the night it was decided to maintain the confinement order in the urban nucleus of La Esperanza, in El Rosario, as well as the Las Raíces Migrant Emergency Center; and the upper area of Calle Vera, in Santa Úrsula, was evacuated.
Meanwhile, in total there are more than 3,000 people evacuated and 3,820 remain confined from the nucleus of La Esperanza, in El Rosario, according to the census. To serve the displaced population, shelters have been set up in El Rosario, La Orotava, Candelaria, El Sauzal and La Matanza, where there are more than a hundred neighbors and some pets.
