The mayoress of Candelaria, María Concepción Brito, has affirmed in statements sent by the City Council that the smoke from the forest fire declared last night is already making itself felt in the upper areas of the municipality and for this reason she has recommended that the population remain in their homes. with the windows closed.
It has also advised taking self-care measures, such as having “sufficient hydration”, and has reported that the municipal social services are contacting homes where there may be vulnerable people for possible relocation.
This measure would foreseeably be adopted this afternoon and is due to worsening air conditions, since the mayoress has trusted that the flames will not reach the inhabited areas of Candelaria.
