The forest fire that originated this Tuesday between Arafo and Candelaria, in Tenerife, already affects six municipalities on the island. On the morning of this Thursday, August 17, the flames entered La Orotava and different areas of El Rosario were evacuated.
Throughout the night, more than 200 troops worked at the scene to prevent the spread of the fire. For the moment, confinement has been decreed in La Esperanza and several areas of La Orotava have been evicted.
So far, 2,600 burned hectares have been estimated, with Candelaria being the most affected municipality.
