The mayor of La Guancha, Antonio Hernández, has informed that the festive program of the municipality is suspended until next Sunday due to the fire that affects the island.
The City Council has decided to suspend the festive events planned from today afternoon until next Sunday, August 20, given the terrible consequences that are being experienced around the forest fire.
Hernández insists that “at this moment the absolute priority is in the fight and control of the fire, allocating all available human and material resources to prevent it from continuing to advance through our mountains.”
After the evolution of the fire in the last hours, the evictions and confinements, the suspension of a part of the patron saint festivities “is adopted in solidarity with the municipalities affected by the fire, and in order not to hinder the work of security and emergencies ”.
The mayor explains that depending on the evolution of the fire in the coming days, it will be evaluated whether to continue with the programming from Monday, August 21, a local holiday.
