SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The forest fire declared in the area of Monte de Arafo, on the island of Tenerife, has affected some 800 hectares distributed by Arafo, Candelaria and areas bordering Santa Úrsula and La Victoria, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordination Center of 112 de Canarias in an update on the fire at 2:00 p.m. this Wednesday.
To try to stop its advance, more than 150 ground combatants, 13 aerial means, 60 security personnel, as well as 40 Red Cross volunteers and personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) are working in the fight against this fire.
In addition, in the last hours, houses located in the upper part of Igueste de Candelaria, on the margins of Camino La Cuestita, from the confluence with the Caminos La Morrita and Partes Caminos, have also been evacuated.
This evacuation is in addition to those carried out from practically the first moment of the fire and that were carried out in the areas of Arrate, Chivisaya, Media Montaña and Ajafona.
The Punta Larga Pavilion has been set up as a hostel on the Rambla de los Menceyes.
In addition, the TF-24 highway, between Las Lagunetas and El Portillo, and the TF-523, Carretera Los Loros, are closed.
