The Civil Guard has located a body in the area where they are looking for a missing bather this Monday on the coast of Los Gigantes, in Santiago del Teide, sources from the armed institute confirmed.
The discovery of the body occurred around 12:30 p.m. and its full identification is still pending, the sources indicate.
Members of the Group of Specialists in Underwater Activities (GEAS) of the Civil Guard joined the search efforts on Tuesday.
Next to the missing young man was another person, a 23-year-old girl, who was also in trouble in the vicinity of the Los Gigantes natural pool and who was able to be rescued and brought ashore by lifeguards from the municipal beach rescue service.
The young woman was treated by personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service, as she had an anxiety crisis, before being transferred by ambulance to the Hospiten Sur University Hospital.
