The Cabildo, through its Municipal Cooperation area, directed by Sonia Hernández, has awarded sanitation works in the municipality of Arafo for a value of €1,308,530.32.
Recently, the Island Corporation, together with the Candelaria City Council, announced almost one million euros to complete the sanitation of that municipality, which, added to the investment of 1.3 million in Arafo and the works of the State Government, raises to 143.7 million euros which is currently allocated to the South to put an end to discharges into the sea.
Sonia Hernández emphasizes that “these works promoted by the Cabildo, within the framework of the Municipal Cooperation Plan, respond to the need to work hand in hand with the municipalities to put an end to the historic sanitation deficit that Tenerife has” and, in this In this sense, he highlighted “the great work carried out by the workers in the Municipal Cooperation area, whose commitment to environmental development makes it possible for us to carry out very important initiatives for the present and the future of our island.” The work that the Cabildo will carry out in the municipality of Arafo consists of the installation of sanitation and water supply networks in part of Barrio del Carmen, since the streets where the action will be carried out currently lack sanitation infrastructure, while the public supply is deteriorated and presents losses, so it will be replaced in its entirety by a new one.
Twelve months of execution of the works
The works will be carried out in Luis Braille, San Bernardo, Felipe Rodríguez Rodríguez, Tomás de Mesa, Santa Cruz, Maestro Calamita, Maestro Castillo, José Martí streets and the upper section of Simón Bolívar street, and more specifically, in the section between the intersections with Segundo Ferrera Gil and La Candelaria streets.
Hernández announces that the works will start next September, and will have an execution period of 12 months.
Similar works are currently being carried out in municipalities such as Arona or Granadilla de Abona.
