Although access to work is a universal right, not all people have the same opportunities to access the labor market. Certain groups find it more difficult to access the employment and develop a productive activity due to sociocultural, socioeconomic or health factors, among others.
In this context, the La Caixa Foundation has been promoting the Incorpora program since 2006 with the aim of accompanying people with disabilities, young people at risk of exclusion, women victims of gender violence, the unemployed over 45 years of age, people deprived of freedom and people with mental health problems, among other groups to which it provides support, to improve their employability and achieve their social and labor integration. The awareness-raising work carried out with companies is essential so that they identify in the Incorporate program an opportunity to promote motivation and diverse talent and, at the same time, to be able to express their social responsibility and commitment to the values of the diversity, equal opportunities and non-discrimination.
Since it was launched in 2006, 85,829 companies from sectors as diverse as hotels, commerce, cleaning, social and health care, transport and storage have joined the programme. In 2023, 10,482 companies have collaborated with it and new companies are added every year. in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 163 companies collaborate. But something very important is the ability of the program so that companies that have used its services for the first time want to repeat to cover subsequent contracting needs. Thus, the company loyalty index (which measures, within the total number of companies that use the Incorpora program in the same year, the percentage of those that use it repeatedly or recurringly) has gone from 47 to 60% in the last few years. five years.
Through their commitment to social and labor insertion, these companies contribute to SDG 8 (“decent work and economic growth”) and SDG 10 (“reduction of inequalities”), included in the United Nations 2030 Agenda, opening up new employment opportunities groups in vulnerable situations.
In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Incorpora program has served 810 people in 2023 and has achieved 327 job placements at the hands of 163 companies and 15 entities.
The ‘Incorpora’ programme: networking of entities and technicians
Labor integration is possible thanks to the work of program technicians, who design personalized insertion itineraries that recognize the potential of program users and promote their active participation to achieve effective labor insertion. Getting the person to feel that they are the protagonist of their progress and their process of change is essential to increase their autonomy and for the success of their insertion.
The networking of social entities and their technicians is essential, since it increases the possibilities of covering job offers presented by companies more quickly and with quality. This contributes to eliminating the barriers to hiring the people served by the program and to increasing the rate of activity and employment of these groups.
During the first 6 months of 2023, the Incorpora program has provided 22,720 jobs in Spain overall, 4.6% more than in the same period last year. This has been possible thanks to the collaboration of 10,482 companies in this social responsibility project. 22% of them are large companies; 35%, medium-sized companies, and 43%, small companies.
Of the total insertions achieved, 12,241 have been for women, and 10,479 for men. In addition, 5,489 have been from people with some kind of disability, and 17,231, from people at risk or in a situation of exclusion.
