El Rosario will undertake a comprehensive reform of the La Esperanza Sports Center. The Local Government Board awarded yesterday the project for the adaptation and improvement of the La Esperanza sports center to the company Construcciones Tomás Gracia Sociedad Anónima for an amount of 520,555 euros and an execution period of seven months, from the start of the works. The work will be co-financed by the Island Sports Area of the Cabildo de Tenerife 90% and by the El Rosario City Council with the remaining 10%.
The mayor of El Rosario, Escolástico Gil, highlights that “in the first half of next year we will be able to put into use a highly demanded facility in La Esperanza and that the students of the Leoncio Rodríguez school will also be able to use.” The pavilion will completely change its exterior and interior appearance, it will be accessible for people with reduced mobility and it will renew the stands, the lighting system and the sports furniture.
The mayor stressed that “the comprehensive reform of the pavilion is in line with the future construction of the sports complex, which will be located on the annexed plot and will have a gym, therapeutic pool and paddle tennis courts.” The winning company presented improvements in the perimeter enclosure of the facility, as well as the extension of the warranty period. The execution of the work will allow the future putting into operation of the pavilion and its opening to the clubs of the municipality and the general public, after remaining closed due to its poor state of conservation for years.
The installation will renew the stands, the lighting system and the sports furniture
The comprehensive reform of the pavilion includes the complete renovation of the roof and the playing surface, as well as the electrical installations, something that is already included in the project. In addition, the sports flooring will be improved, the stands will be adapted and adapted to regulations, and the changing rooms and all the plumbing will be conditioned.
The work includes the suppression of architectural barriers, the enclosure of the sports field as a security measure, the conditioning of rainwater, the adaptation and improvement of metallic structures and vertical walls, the cleaning and painting and the adaptation to regulations of the access doors to the enclosure and lighting.
The La Esperanza pavilion consists of a covered sports court of about 1,641 square meters built with a roof of profiled steel sheet (without insulation). Currently, the general condition is deficient, especially due to the serious waterproofing problems on the roof and the deterioration of the fiberglass skylights, which cause rainwater to fall onto the sports court, which in turn is not sanitized, leaving puddles and making it impossible to use.
