SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife approved on Wednesday in the Governing Council an investment of 5 million euros for scholarships for university studies, Vocational Training, artistic studies and students with special needs.
The Minister of the Employment and Education area, Efraín Medina, has pointed out that this is an important investment to improve the training of young people. “For years now, the Cabildo has made an important effort to train young people so that they are better prepared for a world that is increasingly competitive and globalized,” he added.
In addition, Efraín Medina indicated that in the case of students with special needs, “we are talking about people who suffer from some type of disability who need the support of the Cabildo to be able to access better training.”
In the area of Social Action, the Governing Council approved a loan of 5.6 million euros to care for immigrant minors, as well as the technical assistance contract for the renewal of the ‘Child-Friendly City’ seal of recognition of UNICEF, which contemplates the evaluation of the Insular Plan for Children and Adolescents, the participatory diagnosis of the situation of children and adolescents in Tenerife or the design of the new Insular Plan for Children and Adolescents, among other issues.
As for the Tourism area, the modified project for the recovery work of the Las Eras beach breakwater, in the municipality of Fasnia, was approved for a total budget of 595,949 euros. This is an initiative included in the Tenerife and the Sea programme.
In another order of things, the Governing Council approved the award of contracts for the improvement and rehabilitation of the TF-652 and TF-662 in Arona, as well as the conditioning of the TF-12 highway in the municipalities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna. The global amount of the awards amounts to more than 5 million euros.
