He Canarian Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy (ICHH)attached to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islandsinsists on the importance of both people who donate regularly and the rest of the population, come to donate blood so that it is maintained the ‘stock’ of blood products in hospitals
From the Regional Transfusion Centers it is remembered that in summer blood donations decrease due to the greater mobility of regular donors, the closure of study centers and holidays, in general.
For this reason, the ICHH recommends going to donate before the next long weekend in August, since this gesture of solidarity is essential to maintain the usual rhythm of health activity that does not stop at this time.
Likewise, it is recalled that blood products contribute to saving thousands of lives each year, increase the hope and quality of life of patients, as well as carry out highly complex medical and surgical procedures.
Where to donate this weekend
In The Gran Canarian palmsthe provincial bank of the ICHH located at Calle Alfonso XIII number 4, will open its doors on Saturday, August 12 from 9:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for blood and platelet donations.
In TenerifeAlso on Saturday the 12th it will be possible to donate blood and platelets at the fixed point in the south of Tenerife, located in the San Isidro Health Center, in Granadilla de Abona. Donor service hours are from 8:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
In La Laguna, a mobile unit will be operational next to the Plaza de la Catedral from 4:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
With regard to the fixed points of the Canary Islands Transfusion Network in Tenerife, you can donate blood without an appointment at the University Hospital of Canary Islands Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. And at the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital, the donation point will be operational on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
